The Power of the Purse

It’s 11:00 a.m and I’m headed to brunch to meet up with one of my lovely clients. I’m excited. I have clients from New York to London so it’s not everyday that I get to meet them in person.

As I get ready multi-colored leaves fall to the ground. I take a sip of hot lavender tea with lemon and honey. It’s from my favorite apothecary in town so I’m just savoring every sip.

Finally, I get dressed,  put on my shoes and grab my coat… but before I walk out the door I grab the one accessory that not only pulls my entire look together, but contains everything I need for my day to run smoothly...

And no, it’s not my phone. It’s my purse!

In this article, you will learn how to use the power of the purse to pursue financial freedom.

Friend, have you ever had that feeling of walking out the door with your purse in the crook of your arm knowing that you were ready to take over the world?

I love that bad ass feeling.

I mean the one that makes you put an extra switch in your step.

And you know what, it doesn’t matter if you have $5.00 or $500.00 because you know you have what it takes inside of you to make more.

And that’s just the beginning of truly understanding the power of your purse.

I know you don’t often hear people talking about your purse as a seat of power. But If you pay attention love, objects can shift your whole state of mind. And I want to show you how to use that to your advantage.

Have you ever been in a messy house and felt like you wanted to run out of there immediately? On the other hand, have you ever walked into a clean house and instantly felt right at home?

Or if you’re business owner, how often do you obsess about wanting a beautiful office that inspires you to get sh*t done!!

The things that occupy our space can sometimes impact how we feel and how we act.

Beauty creates more beauty! And when we fill our space with things that remind us of what we love and what we want, it puts us 5 steps ahead of the game on our financial journey!

Let me tell you what I mean.

I am a firm believer that our words create our world and that our actions are directly correlated to what we believe about ourselves and the world around us.  You are not going to build wealth by penny pinching. When you focus on lack, you just create more of the same.

Instead, responsibly surround yourself with things that remind you of who you are, what you love, and what you plan on creating. That is what the power of the purse can help to solidify in your life.

Your purse and your wallet are sacred spaces. Not in the traditional sense, but in the sense that they carry so much of your material livelihood. They hold your money, your identity, and the phone you use to connect with the world.

Recognize that your purse and your wallet are more than just accessories. They are often the gatekeepers of your spending. The last defense against your money staying with you or going to someone else.

Sis, do you see how powerful your purse is? From your fashion to your finances, it has the potential to help you pull it all together. And while I’m being facetious, I’m also being serious. If we create a context that says: “Every investment I make shall bring forth wealth and abundance,” then guess what, it shall be.

I am saying that your purse has power and you get to use it how you see fit.

So friend, can I share 3 super quick steps I follow to help me harness the power of the purse? Here they go…

  1. Keep your purse/wallet clean and organized. Prosperity loves clarity. When you do not honor your purse, your wallet, or the money you already have, how can you possibly make room to make or keep more. When you are a good steward over a little, you open the door to receive a lot.
  2. Invest in yourself. Be mindful and responsible, but don’t be cheap. Like I said before, you will not penny pinch your way to wealth. Whether it is your purse or your portfolio make wise investment decisions that will be stand the test of time.
  3. Have multiple compartments for your cards, cash, and other things. Have a place for everything and put everything in it’s place. You definitely want to have a space for your swipe card. This is the one card you use for personal spending while keeping everything else locked down. Taking this approach helps you stay on budget.

As far as a couple of other important tips, if you can make sure that your wallet has a wristband to help you keep up with it. Personally, I would probably lose my head if weren’t attached to my shoulder so I usually don't buy wallets that do not have them.

If you’re like most people eating out is a thing. To cut back on that keep a pack of nuts, fruit snacks, or both in the zip up compartment of your purse.

So my love, can you see how powerful your purse and your wallet can be?

If you let them, they can easily be objects that help push you toward your financial goals. You already use them everyday to intimately house your money. Why not use them to help you be more mindful of keeping some if it just for you?

The best investments are the ones that inspire you to live your life to the fullest today, while building for your future. So whether you’re investing in today’s wallet or tomorrow’s wealth, make sure you do it from your heart, and with style.
